Amelia and Erika Examine a Unit: In this photo, we have field school student Amelia Harp (left) working alongside the field coordinator, Erika Loveland (right) as they assess a unit. Amelia, a graduate student from Georgia, is also a member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi located in the area surrounding Fort St Joseph, in southwest Michigan. This situation led to a unique opportunity for collaboration between local Native Americans and archaeologists working at Fort St Joseph. Engaging The Detecting Public: As one aspect of the archaeological research at Bennington Battlefield, CCRG included two weekends on which avocational detectorists were invited to assist. Avocational detectorists contributed 60 persondays of work, recovered data important to delineating action at the Hessian Redoubt, and to refining the location of the Tory Redoubt. This frame captures the detectorists as they begin their survey lanes and captures the video recording of this event for a film on the Saratoga Campaign. Both the Bennington work and the Saratoga film were supported by grants from the American Battlefield Protection Program. Chris Espenshade - Cat G Diversity - Engaging the Detecting Public
